The Rachael Top Lab will teach you how to sew an adorable, comfortable and super wearable shirt. In this 3 week class, you'll learn important sewing techniques to that go into making this shirt including sewing with knits, sewing with wovens, making a pocket on a garment, sleeves, hems and more.
The Rachael Top Lab is currently being offered virtually At Home with Live Video Instruction. Our experienced sewing instructors will teach you how using high quality video lessons with a live instructor answering your questions along the way.
Upon sign up for the class, students will receive an email with class login instructions. You'll also receive access to a password protected personalized student web page. This page will include complimentary PDF copies of the patterns & step-by-step instructions for each of the projects worked on in class.
All class instruction is recorded and can be easily accessed during the class and beyond. You'll also have access to helpful on-demand sewing videos.
This beginner sewing class will quickly go over threading the machine, threading the bobbin, winding the bobbin & operating the machine properly.
However, if you've never done this before on your own and don't feel confident doing it independently, we highly suggest signing up for a 45 Minute Sewing Machine Operators License Private (Video) Lesson .
This shirt is created using both knit and woven fabrics. The front bodice top, sleeves, cuffs and neckband are cut from knit fabric for comfort and ease of wearing. The front bodice bottom and back are cut using the woven fabric for style.
For best results use a Lightweight Woven Fabric with a flowy drape, such as Rayon/Viscose, Cotton Lawn, Crepe de Chine, Challis, Georgette. The fiber content can be cotton, polyester, blends or viscose.
The Knit Fabric should have at least 50% 2-way stretch, 4-way stretch is preferred.
It is recommended to wash your fabric prior to cutting.

Sizes S, M: 1 yard of 54" wide fabric*
Sizes L, XL, XXL: 1.5 yards of 54" wide fabric
Sizes S, M, L: 1 yard of 54" wide fabric*
Sizes XL, XXL: 1.5 yards of 54" wide fabric
*If your fabric is 44" wide, you'll need 1.5 yards of both the knit and the woven fabrics.
